Imagine being far from home. Imagine being tired and hungry. The beds are usually bed rolls or cots, the food either at the chow hall or an MRE (Meal-Ready-to-Eat).
Even though we are no longer in "combat" our troops still continue to deploy to far off lands without the comforts of home.
Now imagine receiving a package, from someone you don't even know. It's filled with beef jerky, tuna packets, gum, candy, toothpaste and a fresh toothbrush, and even a pair or two of new socks.
Imagine how it would feel if YOU were part of a project that made this scene happen for a Marine, soldier, sailor or airman...well you can.
From humble beginnings, gathering at a members' home to pack for our sons and daughters, to our own store front headquarters, Marine Corps Family Support Community has sent over 10,000 Care Packages.
Our meetings are held the 2nd Friday of every month at 6:30pm at our headquarters. We hold a general informational meeting, then pack the care packages. We pack 2 boxes per person. One box is sent the following day, the second one 2 weeks later.
Then 2 weeks after that we meet again. We pack 2 boxes per person. We strive to support our members' loved ones throughout their deployment. In order to do this, we need LOTS of supplies! Below is a list of the most needed items. If your school, church, work group or other group is interested in donating items, please call 614-354-5965.
